Early Childhood Services:

A-TCAA offers half day preschool experience to prepare children, ages three to five, for kindergarten at no cost to parents and full-day childcare at low or no cost for parents who are working, going to school, seeking employment or have a referral from Child Welfare. Preschool children may be enrolled at the Head Start Center or in a Home-Based Program. Head Start Programs provide child enrichment, education, health, nutritional and developmental services as well as parent education and involvement opportunities. Last year a total of 214 children participated in preschool programs in Amador and Tuolumne Counties.

Position Definition:

As a part of the A-TCAA team, the Head Start Visitor/Family Advocate plays an essential role by providing comprehensive educational and case management services to children and their families in their homes. Duties include: weekly home visits and case management with families and pregnant women who have children aged birth to 5 years old, planning and facilitating parent involvement in program governance, conducting group socializations for parents and their children and helping families set and meet goals related to self sufficiency, parenting and health. This position requires driving agency vehicles, keeping careful records and case notes and entering data into computerized tracking systems. Home Visitors/Family Advocates also help with program recruitment and informational activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Meet all federal/state licensing requirements and/or program requirements necessary for this position: possess a valid California driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, TB Test, CPR, First Aid training, and health screening;
• Be able to pass a full fingerprint/background check prior to hiring;
• Possess reliable transportation;
• Possess high school diploma or equivalent;
• Have 24 ECE units and be able to obtain Children’s Center Teacher Permit;
• For Early Head Start, must have at least 3 ECE units that focus on infant and toddler development;
• 1 year experience in preschool or home visitor program;
• 1 year case management experience;
• Be proficient in computer skills including the ability to type at 45 wpm;
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and evenings;
• Ability to lift 30 pounds.

Additional Minimum Qualifications: Home Visitor/Family Advocate II:

• Possess an Associates Degree including 24 ECE units

Additional Minimum Qualifications: Home Visitor/Family Advocate III:

• Possess a Bachelors degree with a minimum of 24 ECE Units

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Social Services, Education or related fields;
• Spanish bi-lingual, bi-cultural preferred;
• Knowledge of local community resources.

As a part of the ATCAA team, Family Advocates facilitate parent involvement in all areas of the Head Start/State Preschool program including: program leadership, health, mental wellness, nutrition, and their children’s education. Family Advocates act as a resource to ensure each family has opportunity to define and reach their goals. Family Advocates also assist the management staff in all eligibility service areas to insure that services to children and families enrolled in the Early Childhood Services Preschool/Infant Toddler programs are provided in a comprehensive manner and the required documentation is completed.

Position Definition:

As a part of the A-TCAA team, the Early Childhood Services Center Assistant plays an essential role in A-TCAA as a whole. The main duties of this position are to shop and prepare food for children’s breakfast, snack and lunch and to maintain and clean the classroom on a daily basis. The person in this position will work as a part of the teaching and family service team to create a successful program serving families and children in A-TCAA Early Childhood Services centers.

Minimum Qualifications: Center Assistant I & II:

• Meet all federal/state licensing requirements and/or program requirements necessary for this position: possess a valid California driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, fingerprint clearance, TB Test, CPR, First Aid training, and health screening;
• Ability to operate a commercial dishwasher;
• Experience and knowledge of nutrition and food preparation;
• Ability to lift 40 pounds;
• Positive, professional attitude and behavior;
• Good personal hygiene/neat appearance.

• Possess a GED or High School Diploma;
• Completed three college units of ECE;
• Working towards Associate Permit or Child Development Associate certification.

As a part of the ATCAA team, the Associate Teacher assists teachers in the planning and the implementation of a comprehensive State Preschool/Head Start classroom, including the supervision of and interaction with young children in preschool or infant toddler center classrooms, working with other staff members to ensure that parents are supported as their role as primary teachers for their children and working with ATCAA staff to assure that delivery of services to children and families are carried out in a comprehensive, integrated, and coordinated manner.

• Completed 12 college units in ECE/Child Development;
• Working toward an AS/AA degree in Early Childhood Education.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate Teacher II:

• A.A./A.S. degree, 24 college units in ECE/Child Development;
• Working toward BS/BA degree in Early Childhood Education.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate Teacher III:

• B.A./B.S. degree, 24 college units in ECE/Child Development;

Minimum Qualifications for both: Associate Teacher I & II & III:

• Be able to pass a full fingerprint/background check prior to hiring;
• Associate Teacher or higher Children’s Center Permit;
• Within the past 2 years, 50 days of 3+ hours per day working with children;
• Meet the following program requirements necessary for this position: possess a valid California driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, fingerprint clearance, TB Test, CPR, First Aid training, and health screening;
• Demonstrate ability and judgment to relate to children in a positive and supportive manner;
• Ability to speak and write effectively to children, parents, community members, staff, and others with poise, self-control, and appropriate grammar;
• Ability to write lesson plans and record children's progress;
• Ability to lift 40 pounds;
• Have reliable transportation.

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a preschool setting;
• The ability to speak and understand Spanish;
• Computer experience.
