Baby Steps, designed for parents of children birth to two years old, starting March 29, 2012. Classes will be held Thursday evenings at ATCAA’s Jackson office. Creative Parenting Classes begin March 27, and will be held Tuesdays, one session in the morning and one session in the evening. (Childcare for evening classes!) Friday Night Live Mentoring/ Monday Mash-ups has taken on a new curriculum for the 2011-2012 school year. This year, we will be going through Lifeplan- a curriculum that provides young people with the resources and knowledge to make good choices, i.e. living a healthy life, staying out of debt, how to prepare for college or a job, and how to maintain healthy relationships and boundaries. This program runs on Mondays from 5:30-7:00 on the Sonora High and Summerville High campuses. Sonora High meets in the cafeteria and Summerville meets in room 202 by the cafeteria. This program is open to students from the 6^th-12^th grades at any public, private or charter school in Tuolumne County.

Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 24-28 and Friday Night Live will be hosting rallies at Columbia Elementary and Sonora Elementary on Friday, October 28 for the 4^th-8^th grade students.

Challenge Day has been postponed until after the New Year. We will update with dates and volunteer needs once it is rescheduled. Challenge Day will occur at Soulsbyville Elementary, Summerville Elementary and Summerville High School.

Sources of Strength clubs are starting on the high school campuses in October! Summerville High School will host the Sources of Strength Club starting on Tuesday, October 25 during lunch and will meet every Tuesday thereafter. This program will promote LIFE and LEADERSHIP! Sonora High’s start date is TBD. Stay tuned!

Right now the National Head Start Association is unrolling the “Keep the Window Open” campaign to raise national awareness about the power of Head Start to be a Window of Opportunity for children in vulnerable circumstances. More children are added to waiting lists every day. We must all work together to keep the window open for the next generation of Americans.

As part of the Window campaign we’re inviting Head Start parents, staff, volunteers, partners and alumni to share your stories about how Head Start has been a Window of Opportunity in your lives. You can watch many of them right now on the NHSA YouTube page (see the link below). We’re asking Head Start parents and community members to get involved!
